The Amsterdam Museum commissioned the city poet of Amsterdam, Gershwin Bonevacia, to write this about the collection of Corona in the City. Translated by Agnes Matthews.
We are a collection of testimonies
in service of the community and her development.
The city is not of stone, but a body.
We are a permanent exhibition,
an endless exposition dedicated
to the future generations.
There is one mandate:
being part of a cultural movement,
through containment feeling
all intangible worth in you rising.
Amsterdam must be preserved, so rise up,
traces of an old composition everywhere,
there is space enough, colour it!
That you can say: The city also belongs to me.
A collection with observations from Noord,
Kraaiennest, Indische Buurt
and Bos en Lommerplein.
That may well be our task
not consisting of immovable waves or the moon’s phase,
but out of the need we leave behind something
requiring communal consideration.
We are the museum,
a collection of testimonies
in service of the community and her development.
